Sudbury family health team opens third clinic
The City of Lakes Family Health Team in Sudbury celebrated the official opening of its third clinic in the city May 25th. Located in the community of Lively, the clinic will be staffed by four physicians - Dr. Monica Susil, Dr. Kate Richardson, Dr. Sarah Duncan an Dr. Liisa Lavasseur (all graduates of the Northern Ontario School of Medicine Family Medicine Residency Program) – as well as a nurse practitioner, a registered nurse, a dietitian, a social worker and a pharmacist. It will serve 6,000 formerly orphaned patients rostered through the province’s Health Care Connect program.
The family health team also operates clinics in Val Caron and at Pioneer Manor in the core of the city. A fourth clinic is scheduled to open in Chelmsford sometime in the next two years, said David Courtemanche, executive director.
Once all four clinics are operational, the City of Lakes Family Health Team will employ up to 18 family physicians and serve a total of 25,000 patients. There are currently several vacancies for family physicians at the family health team’s Val Caron clinic.
